On Friday, talented print maker and artist in residence Padma Rajendran gave us a crash course in relief printing using lino cuts. It was wonderful to learn about such an accessible form of printing in a hands-on way, and we all agree that this is an art form we’d like to further explore in the future!
Yesterday, residents had the opportunity to meet and share their work with local artist David Nyzio. After lunch, David- whose cross-disciplinary work explores (and often uses) forms found in the natural world – conducted studio visits throughout the day and served as a pair of fresh eyes for the artists’ works in progress. Thank you,…
What type of art do you create? What first got you interested in this medium? I make ceramic sculpture and hand-built pottery. I was introduced to ceramics in my freshman year of college. I started off writing plays when I was a teenager, and then when I was in college, I took my first screenwriting class which kind of transitioned me from doing stage-based writing to more…
On the evening of June 24th, AIR hosted the first Open Studios event of the summer, inviting the community of Woodstock and the surrounding area to see what residents have been working on throughout their residency, with the opportunity to visit the artist studios and listen to readings from the writers. With the doors open at 6pm, locals filtered through,…
A week before Open Studios we planned our own party at the barn complete with a pie off. Five participants baked their hearts into some pretty amazing pies. There were taste judges, a presentation judge, and a slew of happy eaters. It was a great night to relax and enjoy each others company.
