DIA: Beacon Field Trip
This past Sunday, A.i.R. visited the beautiful town of Beacon where we were privileged to explore the DIA: Beacon Art Museum. Hugely vast, the museum holds modern and contemporary art. The spaces are naturally lit in what used to be the Nabisco box factory. Works from artists like Richard Serra, Agnes Martin, Sol LeWitt, and Michael Heizer, just to name a few, are exhibited there. We were fortunate to be allowed behind the glass barrier surrounding Heizer’s 20 foot deep weathered steel structures. These holes are on view from a far, but A.i.R. got close, amazingly and dangerously close. Hopefully creative ideas were sparked as Open Studios are coming up fast.
